A Famous Town

Wasilla. Before a week or so ago if I said Wasilla people would say Wah, what? Now, you hear it daily on TV if you watch the news. Sarah Palin, our once small town Mayor, now Governor has made our little town quite famous. The press has gotten insane, I understand people have their jobs to do but dang!

Steve and I went to dinner the other night, a reporter was at Evangelos (a very nice Italian fine dining restaurant) along with a female companion. He had on a plaid flannel shirt that still had the packaging crease marks in it, she, Eddie Bauer head to toe. I believe he saw on a blog somewhere how much of a "redneck" town Wasilla was so he ran out and purchased that flannel shirt to fit in. Along with that creased flannel shirt he was wearing jeans and tassel loafers. I wanted to tell him among other things, "Dude you stick out in that shirt with those shoes worse than if you walked through here whistlin' dixie with toilet paper stuck to your shoe!" It was almost insulting to a point. We may be laid back, a sort of "redneck" town but we are not dumb. Just because you are wearing a flannel shirt you wont get us to spill any dirt or half truths. Not that Mr. Reporter will ever read my blog, however, my advise to him:
1. Wash the shirt.
2. Ditch the pretty boy loafers.
3. Treat people with respect, we are not a rude group here.
4. Google the area. You sounded like a complete jackass!

The Newest Addition!

It's been quite some time since I've written anything on my blog. I always tell myself get it on the blog and you'll at least have it for later to scrapbook. Well, that hasn't happened! Since the last time I typed on this thing I have become a Grandmother to Lane Joshua John. OMG .. he is just the bestest thing ever!

This is him just minutes old holding my finger. The first hand he ever held. Amazing, that's about all I can say! That was April 11 this is more current:

He went to visit Auntie Jamie at work. I guess I should show the hair. Here he is with Uncle Stevie. He was born with a whole head full of hair and he still has it. Needless to say we think we will keep him!

Random Ramblings

I've been bad. A post on a favorite website made me realize how neglectfull I have been. I will try to be a little better about posting.

My goal for this weekend? To post a few layouts I've done recently. I need to get a couple done today for some classes. A couple of weeks ago I did make a point to scrap for myself since I was really feeling like I only scrapped for the LSS's and not for myself. So I "fixed" that. :)

I've actually taught a class recently! Getting back into the swing of things, not only did I teach a class but I went completely outside of my norm and used stamps since the class was for The Stamp Cache in Palmer. My normal LSS I design for agreed to let me help Linda since she is a friend. I work for such a great group of women locally and am truly very happy with the arrangements.

Today the Winternationals start. WooHoo! Drag Racing season is back. Yes, I am excited, I know a little obsessive but don't we all have our obsessions? Have to find it on ESPN to put it on the DVR then start my day.

I will try and post a few layouts later today.

New Company?

Found this website. If you have a minute check out the introduction, let it play through. Looks like it could be a very fun, interesting company.

Driving Me Crazy!

My goofball husband. We put our children in race cars at 8 years old, send our 16 year old daughter flying down the race track at 149 mph yet, we get snow on the ground and he wants me to meet her in town to follow her home.

We live in Alaska, so driving can sometimes be tricky but last night was not much of anything, an inch of snow. I should add the girl drives a tank. She's driving a 1986 Chevy. There is weight in the back, good tires and of course 4 wheel drive. Not the best on gas mileage by any means but a tank and a lot of metal around her. A classic.

I don't know why this stuck me so funny yet loving. Maybe just because of the racing and the fact these kids have been driving one thing or another since they started kindergarten. Born and raised in Alaska, yet an inch of snow and I have to follow a child home. Tough dad, warm heart?

AC Delco National's Slide Show

Las Vegas AC Delco Nationals

Back from Las Vegas and the AC Delco Nationals. We had a great time. Well, Steve and I had a great time. Jamie loved the races but was not the least bit impressed with Las Vegas. I have one photo of myself that was commercially taken and I just realized I didn't get one of Steve. I have a ton of race cars and Jamie with race car drivers. We are going back next year and I will have to make a point to get pictures of Steve and I as well. Although, next year all of our children will be adults. So dare I say, we may be going alone? Ü

Oh! We saw Mystere, a Cirque du Soliel production. I was amazing. If you ever get a chance to see one it's beyond describing. Before the show even started I had a bellyache from laughing so hard. Then the show started. If you've ever seen the group on TV it's even more amazing in person. Well worth the cost of the tickets.

I have to resize some of the photo's I took then I will try and put a slide show up. In our world these are our "stars". Although, unless your into drag racing Im not sure you will know who they are. There are a couple of names that may be recognized now because of TV. Jamie met Ashley Force, her father and her family have a show on A&E called Driving Force.
